AI-Driven Biometric Coaching for Archers
Imagine a world where every arrow shot tells a story—not just about where it lands, but about how it was released, the archer’s posture, focus, and even their heartbeat in that moment. The Precision Insights project combines biometric data and artificial intelligence to help archers unlock their full potential. By capturing and analysing data from a wide range of sources, we can provide personalized, actionable feedback that empowers archers to grow faster than ever before.
How It Could Works
Motion Capture:
Cameras track body alignment, bow draw, and release technique, creating a complete picture of the archer’s form. We are aiming to do this without motion capture dots or expensive motion capture cameras.
Biometric Sensors:
Using opensource biometric sensors to capture real-time data. These devices could include:
- Heart rate and heart rate variability to gauge stress and focus (ECG/PPG).
- Muscle activation and tension to detect overexertion or imbalances (EMG).
- Breathing patterns to identify the ideal rhythm for steady shots.
- Weight distribution and centre of gravity.
- Anything else we can measure (EEG anyone?)
Arrow Plotting
Capturing data on the archer is great but in order to work out what this data means we need to know where the arrow ended up. Initially, we can manually plot where the arrows landed but wouldn’t it be easier if the arrows plotted themselves?
AI Analysis:
Using Machine Learning and AI algorithms to process the data captured from the archer and compare it to the scores achieved to detect patterns, identify areas for improvement, and predict how small changes could lead to big results.
Some of this analysis will be based on coaching fundamentals but other insights are likely to appear that we didn’t even suspect.
Visualized Feedback:
A user-friendly dashboard displays insights in real time, using graphs, heatmaps, and videos to illustrate key findings. Coaches and athletes can review sessions, compare progress over time, and set targeted goals.
